If I had superpowers
I would give speech to rubble
To listen and remember
The stories it had sheltered
I would ask the rubble
To echo the laughter
And sing the memories
Of those it had silenced
I would beg to know
The tales and secrets
Whispered by the children
When no bomb was falling
Stubborn dandelions
Forced out of the earth
Who dance in the dust
To rise from the ashes
Like a Palestinian child
Resilient and proud
Whose life was forfeit
From the very start
If I had superpowers
I’d beg the forgiveness
Of those whose only sin
Was to be born in rubble
